"A Female Gaze" is a collective of female photographers based in Oslo, dedicated to strengthening the role of women in photography in Norway by showcasing diverse female perspectives. The size of the group varies slightly from year to year but consists of nine-ten photographers, diverse in genre, artistic expression, identity, age, and background.

The group's first exhibition was in 2021, with the eponymous title "A Female Gaze," explored concepts of masculinity, the man, and the feminine perspective. "A Female Gaze" was showcased at Oslo Negativ, Nordic Light Festival of Photography in Kristiansund, Shoot Gallery, and Copenhagen Photo Festival.

In 2022, they continued their work with the exhibition "Mother Nature on a Saturday Night," which was displayed at Oslo Negativ and FLOW Photofestival in Scotland. The theme explored the idea of nature, as defined in a Norwegian setting, and the implications that has on identity.

"SELF-ish" in 2023 was the third exhibition, with showings at Oslo Negativ photo festival, the gallery Hos Arne, and Oslo Metropolitan University.

Act Naturally is the theme of the 2024 project, focusing on oxymorons. The first showing of this year’s work is at the Oslo Negative fotofestival in October.

The composition of the artist collective varies from year to year, but it consistently includes female photographers affiliated with Norway and engaged in professional photographic practices. The initiator and project leader for the group is Charlotte Wiig.
